What does it take to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist?
Many years, many exams, and 10-12 hour days-- and honestly, some crying. But becoming a therapist has been one of the best things that I have ever done.
As I celebrate one year of free mental health education on YouTube, I look back at what allowed me to be here in the first place: becoming a licensed therapist.
It was hard work that also forced me to do some of my own work. There were many difficulties but also major highlights-- including getting to meet Dolores Huerta.
I had the privilege of meeting her for my graduation after she gave the keynote speech. It was a very surreal moment to stand next to someone who dedicated her life to advocacy in the latinx/e community.
It's people like her that inspire me to continue the work I do. In my own, small, way I hope to make a difference. It was a very long journey to get here but I am thankful for every step.
This past Monday I shared that journey with you on YouTube-- including the stress and tests we have to take.
